design brief for client

Catherine Rawnsley Garden Design offers a bespoke service completely suited to each client's individual requirements - whether it is a refresh of your garden, advice on planting, or a complete redesign.

The usual design process is outlined below.

Initial site visit and design concept

We visit your garden to get a good understanding the site and what your needs are. Following this initial meeting we come up with concept ideas for your garden.

Site analysis and measurement

The site needs to be fully analysed and measured. We gather specific information, such as sun and shade patterns, existing plants, and how surrounding properties impact on the site.

Masterplan and construction drawings

The design concepts are fine tuned to produce a detailed masterplan with accompanying sections, elevations and construction detail. These are the plans that a contractor will work from.

Planting plan

Once the layout and hard landscaping elements of the design have been completed, a detailed planting plan can be prepared. This shows the positioning, quantities, and sizes of plants.

Specification and tendering

We can draw up specifications and obtain competitive tenders for you to appoint a contractor to carry out the work. We can monitor the works so that the garden is built to the correct standards.
