The client wanted a romantic country garden. The planting was to be bold, colourful, naturalistic, and attractive to wildlife, especially birds and butterflies.
The design makes the most of the fantastic views of the garden from the bedroom and living room, while breaking up the long, thin space.
There are three sections - a terrace and pergola draped in roses for enjoying morning sunshine, a productive vegetable garden with composting area, and a seated area with sculpture and bird bath at the end of the garden for basking in the afternoon sun.
The garden shed has been disguised with planting.
The client has a love of detective novels, so the concept for the design a wildlife 'whodunit'.
