The clients wanted to create a productive French style vegetable garden in their front garden. With expansive views from Wellington's south coast around to the north, the garden received a lot of wind. This was one of the main challenges to address in the design and has been dealt with by layers of hedges to help break up the wind and create different vistas.

The house is well above the garden level, so it was also important that the garden would look good from the views out of the windows.

The garden is a combination of formal layout and informal planting, with metal arches draped in climbing roses and a charming mixture of flowers for pollinators and fruit and vegetables.

The abundance in the garden is testament to the clients' vision and hard work.
