English country style garden
WHAT
Contemporary design
WHERE
Wellington, New Zealand
WHEN
2019
We redesigned this small front garden in Khandallah when the house was being renovated. We put in a new gate and fence along with a circular themed path and small dining terrace.
The planting was done in autumn 2019 and is filled with colourful flowers and wildlife now that it's summer. Plants include carex grasses, box, hellebores, catmint, ceanothus, roses, stachys, salvias, penstemons, and alliums. The box will be shaped into spheres once it’s a bit bigger.
The (still very small) specimen trees include crabapple and forest pansy. We retained the exiting mature magnolia tree but everything else in the garden is new.
The colour palette is predominantly green, silver, dark pink and purple.
